Root local reach global

Project

Senior Design Thesis: Root Local Reach Global

Challenge

There is a large disconnect between people and their food. There is a disconnect between individuals within the community of Oxford Ohio.

Opportunity

Miami University’s Institute for food creates a space for community growth, learning and engagement with issues of food, health, and sustainable agriculture on a local level that produces global effects.

Solution

I chose to create a propaganda series for organic agriculture and the Miami University Institute for Food. The project style is inspired by World War Two victory garden propaganda. This style is over the top in language and bold visuals to make viewers stop and investigate the meaning. A response necessary in a world cluttered by information about any and every topic. The series is meant to be hung around the Miami University campus. The posters, along with an installation piece and trifold informational's were a cohesive series for my senior graphic design thesis show. The project name “Reach Local Reach Global” is meant to describe how investment and involvement in local community organic agriculture has effects outside the community in many ways.
